Clive Staples and Other Great Authors | Books of 2019 So Far

Hello lovely readers!

I've already started a book that is a part of a list of hopefully more books I will read this year.

In 2017 I maybe read two books through and through and in 2018 I finished out the year with a whopping number of 8 books, and I must say I was proud of myself.

In 2019 my sights are set on a higher number of books that I want to read. (You can read my post on books I want to read here.) I say this because growing up and even in college I would literarily digest books that were mainly YA (young adult) novels. YA was my first love and remained so for quite some time.

Now as 23 years old there is a part of me that wants to branch out and read books my 16, 18, and even 20-year-old self would scoff at, like biographies and literary non-fiction books that detail someone's life experience I didn't think would be so interesting. I want to read classic literature and embrace a part of time so vastly different from my own.

So, my goal is to read 10 books this year. I know there are people in the world who can read 10 books in one month, but for now, that's not me. I plan on taking it slow and embracing the books I can and hopefully enjoying them along the way.

Currently, I'm reading Jane Eyre with a few close friends and reading with other people has spurred me to read more on my own. I hope this year will be a year of good books for me. Let me know in the comments what books you plan on reading this year.

Books I'm Longing to Read in 2019

  • Small Victories: Spotting Improbable Moments of Grace by Anne Lamott
  • Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
  • Great Expectation by Charles Dickens
  • The Four Loves by C.S. Lewis
  • Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative by Austin Kleon
  • The Heart of a Woman by Maya Angelou
  • Not Without Laughter by Langston Hughes
  • The Fire Next Time James Baldwin

I haven't quite figured out what I want the other two books to be, but we shall see.

sincerely,

~A
